Pyromancy in DS3 requires both faith and intelligence to be effective. When I did my pyromancy build, I got my stats to the minimum requirements for the weapon I wanted to use, which was the falchion but feel free to use what you like, and then bumped up faith, intelligence and attunement. Generally for a Pyromancer I would recommend any weapons with reasonably low STR and DEX requirements that get good scaling when infused. Pyromancy builds use Intelligence and Faith as their main stats. While there is less diversity in Pyro builds, the stats they use can be implemented for other casting builds. But it's story builds on AofA, so you should get that first. The DLC have some of the most memorable (and hardest) bosses in the game and even the franchise. The story feels like even more of a final conclusion to Dark Souls than the base game. I recommend it.

It also gives you the versatility to access most spells and miracles, which makes it the best pure caster option. 30/30 and 45/45 are the most frequent stopping points for fth/int levelling.
